Donor in Athens
What a great idea to help kids who need it most. Thank you for your efforts!
Staff at Interfaith Hospitality Network of Athens
Thank you so much for supporting IHNA. NTCP is such a great resource for our parents trying to get back on their feet. Childcare is one of their biggest barriers. We appreciate your support.
Interfaith Hospitality Network of Athens Guest
Without childcare from IHNA, I would not be able to look for work. I have two interviews this week. Without childcare assistance, I would not be able to go.
Mother Living in Athens
No one could possibly understand how much the [childcare] has helped me. There have been plenty of times that if it weren’t for the help with Kalli’s childcare, I would not have been able to pay all of my bills or put food on the table… Kalli loves going to school every day and always comes home knowing something new.
Director, Athens Area Homeless Shelter
Thanks in part to NTCP’s assistance, a mom staying at the Athens Area Homeless Shelter (AAHS) was able to put her two-year-old son in full-time childcare. There, the little boy’s behavior significantly improved due to the structure and healthy relating that occurs. Meanwhile, his mom was able to complete her GED classes, is currently taking the tests to receive her diploma; she is also participating in a program geared toward employability skills. A mom and her three-year-old were evicted from their house. Working with AAHS, NTCP was able to provide childcare for the little boy. His mom is now halfway to a cosmetology degree and is applying for part time employment positions. In the childcare center her son has found a healthy outlet for his energy. His listening skills and overall behavior have greatly improved.
Director, Athens Women to the World/Partnering Ambassadors for Life and Service (PALS)
Many (of the women we serve) are in recovery institutions, safe houses, or homeless. Others had children at early ages, and have been unable to complete high school. All are in need of literacy, a high school equivalent (GED), and employment. We offer a “Life Skill” segment that includes parenting skills, nutritional classes, heart and bone health, entrepreneurial training, resume building, interview skills and business language skills. Computer Classes are required. Without childcare, many of these women would be unable to take this all important step into a future free of poverty, dependency, and abuse. Collaborating with NTCP helps make all this possible!
